Plot: My little pony is a remake of the original children’s My Little Pony cartoon. It follows the life lesson’s of Twilight Sparkle and her friends, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity. This series target audience is kids, and as such, maintains a “Y” rating.

Review: I’m mixed about Season 3 of MLP:FIM. There were several really good episodes, and other episodes that felt a bit off. As with the previous seasons, it starts out with a pretty serious two part story arc, then goes back to the a day in the life stories. There’s also a some subtle foreshadowing and a shift to focusing back on Twilight Sparkle as the main character. The world is also expanded with new locations, such as the Crystal Empire, and reference were made to other far away location not visited.

The pacing of the season 3 was one of the biggest reasons season 3 feels a bit jolted. Season 3 only has half the number of episodes as the previous seasons. Some episodes felt like they were paced correctly, other episodes felt like the story should of been spread over two episodes. There’s also several episodes that had Disney like songs, but most off them felt artificially inserted and out of place in context of the story.

There still episodes that focus on individual characters, with some show real character growth and development, and other’s just a day in the life without any major character changes or growth. This season, there was no episodes devoted to Rarity exclusively. They’ve made it a point to make sure Pinkey Pie had at least a cameo in almost every episode, but this was not a negative things. The final episode of season caught me off guard. I did not see it coming, however since my review tries to avoid as many spoilers as possible, I’ll leave it at that.

My Grade: 4 out of 5 (Loved It)
