How I discovered Angel Beats: Recommendation from my friend Chris.
Plot: Yuzuru awakens with amnesia in a strange high school. He quickly learns that he’s dead, and the strange high school he’s in is a sort of limbo. Yuri, leader of the SSS, leads group who fights against Angel, the class president, from being obliterated.
Review: I was unable to watch the OVA episode, due to Netflix not offering it. This series has a good blend of action, comedy, and serious character development. The story is told from Yuzuru’s perspective and his interaction’s with the other characters. Since death is not permanent, there’s some especially funny scenes dealing with how characters “die” in various situation’s with there battle’s against Angel. For only 13 episodes, the story paced very well and did not feel too slow or too rushed. Towards the end it became more serious and less comedic, with the final episodes being the most emotional.
My Grade: 4 out of 5 / “Loved it”
